Answers: 1.Evaluation of learning experience Learning experience is the combination of course, interaction, knowledge and other experiences in the learning setting. In my view, learning experience is how easily one can gather knowledge while studying or doing any task. Learning can be done through direct interaction between educator and learner, through online mode or through software programme. In the management studies, several tools are used in study. I have worked on the current trends in cafe and restaurant business in Australia during 12 weeks of my course. I have realised that learner needs to be enthusiastic and needs to put all efforts to make the learning experience can be effective. Curiosity for acquiring knowledge is essential for learning. Another aspect is communication between learner and tutor that enhances learning experiences. Value of learning experience is associated with the time spending on learning and investment. Value of learning rises if a learner utilises the learning for a productive purpose or any practical field. As a learner, when a learning is valuable to me when learning provides some positive insights and resulted in some learning outcome. Through learning process, I have found some gap in the methods of learning and in the research study, which I would try to address in future study. 2.Usefulness of the learning process Learning experiences obtained in assignment 1 and assignments 2 are useful in future field if I decide to open any start up business in future. This course has been organised to learn about structured observation, research design, data analysis procedure and process of literature review. This knowledge is helpful to start the next semester with greater insight. I have learnt quantitative data analysis method while prepared the research proposal. Each step of the research proposal is helpful to carry on a final research on social research. My research proposal topic has focused on market and small and medium scale business. Therefore, I have gathered knowledge regarding the Australian coffee business, market competition, market trend and future prospect. This learning experience will be helpful if I participate in a business programme or seminar in future. I can apply this knowledge to start my own business. I have learnt that extensive market research is important before starting a new project or business. Knowledge can be applied during research on customer trend, presence of competitors, cost of operation and current demand in the market. Therefore, experiences that I have acquired regarding data collection and analysis method can be applied in the future real life business. 3.Details of the learning process I started with literature review before writing the report on research proposal. Literature review part gave the insight about the factors that should be considered in a business research. I have learnt how to critically evaluate and review previous scholarly literature. I have read literatures of last five years on cafe business and nature of business firms in a monopolistically competitive market, where number of competitors are high. In order write the research proposal, I have used online sources and articles from internet. Graphs and visual representation of market statistics have helped me to understand the market better. The next process was determining the research questions, objectives and hypothesis. Research questions are based on the variables recognised from the literature review chapter. I have learnt about several methodologies of the research and the research philosophy. Simple random sampling has been chosen to collect data on consumer preference and the data on consumer demand and preferences are primary data, which are used in quantitative study. The method of developing questionnaire and method of conducting interview have been learnt during 12 weeks. 4.Evaluation of the learning Business research is useful in business decision making. Business education is required for staffs and managers. Business research and studies can be related with business ethics, economics and modern business strategy. Business research is very helpful to test the effectiveness and success of the new product that is going to be launched by an organisation. Research is also beneficial for self-development. This kind of business research based learning develops intellectual skills and critical analysis skill along with group work, time and resource management skill. Data handling capacity enhances through business research learning. Business research learning can help the learner to set up a business or to help organisation to develop new product or service in the market. Demand of consumer is ever changing and hence the market trend. Without extensive research, a businessperson cannot effectively understand what kind of coffee flavour is mostly desired by customers. The reasons behind changing trend can be known through primary research, which provides knowledge of fieldwork. Secondary business research is useful to understand the external and internal factors influences cafe business and the nature of the competition in this market. This is useful to formulate business strategy and a suitable market approach. Survey is effective method of data collection although it has several drawbacks. At the business education level, data collection is limited with small sample. There is question of reliability of collected responses from customers due to small sample. Hence, minimum information may not provide correct result for the business research. 5.Learning process This business research on Australian restaurant and cafe business has used mixed approach such as both quantitative and qualitative. I had little knowledge on quantitative study using statistical method before conducting the study. I have gained knowledge regarding statistical tools such as correlation, descriptive statistics and regression while studying research methodology. I studied market structure of the cafe and restaurant business, consumer demand theory, firm behaviour in literature review section. In the research proposal section, I have learnt the outline of the entire business research process.
